Should You Buy a Cold Steel Sword?

May 14th, 2008

When it comes to modern swords, few names are as synonymous with quality and beauty as Cold Steel. The company, based in Ventura, California, was created in 1980 and has been manufacturing various bladed products ever since. They make everything from kitchen knives and tactical knives to the gorgeous and functional swords that I love to collect. Purchasing a Cold Steel sword means that you have not only bought a fine blade, but you have something that can actually be kept in the family for generations – yes, the quality is that good. They make a variety of different sword types, from the Japanese katana to medieval replicas that are as fine (perhaps even finer) than the originals on which they are based. While some of the Cold Steel replica swords do cost a bit more than those from other companies, there is a difference in the quality. As a collector, I can tell you that if you are in the market for a sword, you can’t do much better than Cold Steel.
